Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, command the Fuel Door Lock relay ON and OFF.

Does the Fuel Door Lock relay turn ON and OFF with each command?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the Fuel Door Lock Relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the coil side feed circuit of the Fuel Door Lock relay and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the Fuel Door Lock relay and the coil side feed circuit of the Fuel Door Lock relay.
  2. With a scan tool, command the Fuel Door Lock relay ON and OFF .

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

Does the test lamp remain illuminated with each command?

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the Fuel Door Lock solenoid.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the input circuit of the Fuel Door Lock solenoid and the ground circuit of the Fuel Door Lock solenoid.
  3. With a scan tool, command the Fuel Door Lock relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 15

  1. Connect a test lamp between the input circuit of the Fuel Door Lock solenoid and a good ground.
  2. With a scan tool, command the Fuel Door Lock relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

Test the control circuit of the Fuel Door Lock relay for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the control circuit of the Fuel Door Lock relay for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the control circuit of the Fuel Door Lock solenoid for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the Fuel Door Lock solenoid for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the high resistance or open in the coil side feed circuit of Door Lock relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the Fuel Door Lock relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Rear Integration Module (RIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
