Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 493259  Size: SH
  1. Place window in the full up position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear push in retainer on the water deflector.
  4. Peel the water deflector away from the door panel far enough to access the outside door handle.

  6. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod from the door latch.

  7. Object Number: 507065  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) by opening the retainer (2) at the door latch.

  9. Object Number: 493259  Size: SH
  10. Remove the door handle fasteners.

  11. Object Number: 334828  Size: SH
  12. Remove the handle with the handle and lock rods attached, by applying an upward and outward force.
  13. Remove the lock cylinder rod and handle rod from the outside door handle.
  14. Remove the lock cylinder from the outside door handle. Refer to Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the lock cylinder into the outside door handle. Refer to Door Lock Cylinder Replacement .
  2. Install the handle and lock cylinder rods to the outside door handle.
  3. Install the handle and rods into the door.
  4. 3.1. Rotate them into a horizontal position.
    3.2. Insert the rods through cut out.
    3.3. Rotate the handle into position.
    3.4. Apply up and inward pressure.
    3.5. Slide the handle downward until the door metal engages into the two lower retaining tabs on the handle.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the outside door handle fasteners.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  7. Connect the lock cylinder rod to the door latch.

  8. Object Number: 105412  Size: SH
  9. Connect the door handle rod to the latch.
  10. 6.1. Insert the rod (1) into the clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
    6.2. Close the clip.

            Important: Inspect for the proper operation of the door handle and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector and the door trim panel.

  11. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  12. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
