J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
2. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
3. Push the wiring harness through the slit (3) in the water deflector.
4. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push in retainers (1, 2) at the upper corners of the water deflector.
5. Gently peel the water deflector away from the door, being careful not to damage the butyl sealing strip.
6. Remove the water deflector.

1. Clean the water deflector to the inner door panel mating surface with denatured alcohol or the equivalent.
2. Align the water deflector to the door assembly.
3. Install the rear push-in retainer (1).
4. Install the front push-in retainer (2).
5. Route the wiring harness through the slit (3) in the water deflector.
6. Pull the bottom corners down to locate the water deflector to the inner door panel.
7. Position the water deflector around the inside door handle.
8. Secure the butyl bead around the entire periphery of the door inner panel.
9. Roll the adhesive area by starting at the bottom center and working around and up the right and left sides. Overlap the rolling operation at the bottom center.
10. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
11. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
