DEFINITION: This test checks the condition of the inflator timer-relay and the surrounding circuits.

1

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Put the inflator switch in the ON position.
  3. Put the inflator switch in the OFF position.

Does the air compressor operate and then stop?

Go to Inflator Solenoid Valve Test

Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the connector from the inflator timer-relay.
  2. Measure the voltage at connector (harness side) terminal E.

Is battery voltage present?

B+

Go to Step 4

Repair the open circuit condition in one of the following circuits/components:

    • CKT 321 (YEL) between the inflator timer-relay and the IP junction block
    • ELC relay
    • CKT 641 (BRN) from the IP junction block to the IP fuse block

Is the repair or replacement complete?

Measure the voltage at connector (harness side) terminal D.

Is battery voltage present?

B+

Go to Step 6

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 1042 (RED) between the inflator timer relay and the RH MaxiFuse® block.

Is the repair complete?

Check for continuity between the connector (harness side) terminal H and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 8

Repair the open circuit condition in CKT 1250 (BLK).

Is the repair complete?

  1. Hold the inflator switch in the OFF position.
  2. Check for continuity between the connector (harness side) terminal A and ground.

Is continuity present?

  1. Hold the inflator switch in the ON position.
  2. Check for continuity between the connector (harness side) terminal F and ground.

Is continuity present?

Go to Step 10

Replace the inflator timer-relay.

Is the replacement complete?
