Did you perform the Power Seat System Diagnostic System Check?

Operate the power seat system.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Is the power seat completely inoperative?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the inoperative power seat switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit at the power seat switch harness connector and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

Connect a test lamp between the ground circuit at the power seat switch harness connector and battery positive voltage.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the inoperative seat adjuster motor.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the inoperative seat adjuster motor control circuits at the seat adjuster motor harness connector.
  3. Press the inoperative power seat switch in both available directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate with each command?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative seat adjuster motor.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Repair the open or short to ground in the battery positive voltage circuit to the power seat switch connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 14

Repair the open in the ground circuit at the power seat switch harness connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 14

Test for a short to ground or open in the seat adjuster motor control circuits. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative power seat switch.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Replace the power seat switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 14

Replace the inoperative seat adjuster motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect any disconnected components.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
