Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip and/or Garnish Trim Clip Remover.

  1. Remove the video entertainment system overhead console. Refer to VES Overhead Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the video screen. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  3. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the interface module.
  4. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the support bracket push-in retainers.

  5. Object Number: 512794  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bolt from the left corner of the support bracket.

  7. Object Number: 512779  Size: SH
  8. Carefully slide the support bracket towards the front of the vehicle.
  9. Remove the support bracket from the roof.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 512795  Size: SH
  1. Install three strips of foam tape across the back side of the support bracket.
  2. Insert the pointed end of the support bracket through the hole in the headliner towards the rear of the vehicle.
  3. Secure the rear of the support bracket into place by snapping the retainer at the pointed end of the support bracket to the roof bow.
  4. Secure the front of the support bracket into place by installing new push-in retainers.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the bolt to the left corner of the support bracket.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the support bracket bolt to 2 N·m(18 lb in).

  8. Secure the interface module to the support bracket using the hook and loop retainer.
  9. Install the video screen. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  10. Install the video entertainment system overhead console. Refer to VES Overhead Console Replacement .
