Removal Procedure

Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

Notice: Anti-corrosion compounds have been applied to the interior surfaces of some metal panels to provide rust resistance. When servicing these panels in areas on which this material has been disturbed, or when installing new panels, avoid corrosion damage by coating with anti-corrosion compound.

Notice: When the hood is removed from the vehicle, do not stand the hood on the rear corners. Damage to the paint and sheet metal may occur.

  1. Place protective coverings over the adjacent body panels.
  2. Open and suitably support the hood.
  3. Install the protective coverings over the fenders in order to prevent damage to the paint when removing or installing the hood.
  4. Mark the position of the hood hinge to the hood for alignment when re-installing the hood.
  5. Remove the bolts/screws from each side of the hood at the hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
  6. Remove the hood from the hinges.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hood to the hinges.
  2. Install the bolts/screws to each side of the hood at the hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement Hood Hinge.
  3. Remove the protective coverings from the fenders.
  4. Align the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  5. Close the hood.
  6. Remove the protective coverings from the adjacent body panels.
