Removal Procedure

Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open and suitably support the hood.
  2. Mark the location of the hood hinge to the hood for alignment when re-installing the hood.

  3. Object Number: 315257  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolts/screws from the hood hinge at the hood.

  5. Object Number: 315256  Size: SH
  6. Remove the hood from the hinge.
  7. Mark the position of the hinge to the upper fender rail with a grease pencil in order to aid in the alignment when the hood hinge is reinstalled.
  8. Remove the bolts/screws from the hood hinge at the upper fender rail.
  9. Remove the hood hinge from the upper fender rail.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 315256  Size: SH
  1. Install the hood hinge to the upper fender rail.
  2. Align the hood hinge to the marks on the upper fender rail.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts/screws to the hood hinge at the upper fender rail.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the hood to the hood hinge.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Align the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  9. Close the hood.
