Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement Olds

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Open the lift gate.

  2. Object Number: 314051  Size: SH
  3. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the upper and lower rear bumper fascia.
  4. Remove the screws at the right and left wheel well from the rear bumper fascia.
  5. Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement .
  6. Remove the palnut from the rear bumper fascia outer retainer.
  7. Remove the rear bumper fascia from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 314055  Size: SH
  1. Align the rear bumper fascia to the rear bumper fascia outer support.

  2. Object Number: 314057  Size: SH
  3. Align the rear bumper fascia outer retainer to the body.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the palnut to the rear bumper fascia outer retainer.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the palnut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the push-in retainers to the upper and lower rear bumper fascia.
  8. Install the screws at the right and left wheel well to the rear bumper fascia.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  10. Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement .
  11. Close the lift gate.

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the lift gate.

  3. Use the J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers from the upper and lower rear bumper fascia.
  4. Remove the screws at the right and left wheel well from the rear bumper fascia.

  8. Remove the rear bumper fascia reflectors. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Reflector Replacement .

  1. Align the rear bumper fascia to the rear bumper fascia outer support.

  2. Object Number: 314059  Size: SH

  7. Install the screws at the right and left wheel well to the rear bumper fascia.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  9. Install the rear bumper fascia reflectors. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Reflector Replacement .
  10. Close the lift gate.
