Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 486677  Size: SH
  1. Remove the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  2. Remove the passenger SIR inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  3. Remove the air distributor extension ducts. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC - Manual, or Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC - Automatic.
  4. Remove the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  5. Remove the bolts retaining the relay bracket and reposition the relay bracket aside.

  7. Remove the bolts retaining the BCM bracket and reposition the BCM bracket aside.

  8. Object Number: 282301  Size: SH
  9. Release the IP wiring harness retaining clips and reposition the wiring harness out of the way.
  10. Remove the bolts retaining the HVAC module center support bracket.
  11. Remove the HVAC module center support bracket.

  12. Object Number: 482597  Size: SH
  13. Remove the bolts retaining the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam.

  14. Object Number: 482587  Size: SH
  15. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar.

  16. Object Number: 482588  Size: SH
  17. Remove the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar.

  18. Object Number: 482600  Size: SH
  19. Remove the cross vehicle beam from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 482600  Size: SH
  1. Install the cross vehicle beam to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 482588  Size: SH
  3. Install the cross vehicle beam to the RH hinge pillar retaining bolts; do not tighten.

  4. Object Number: 482587  Size: SH
  5. Install the cross vehicle beam to the LH hinge pillar retaining bolts.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Tighten the bolts retaining the cross vehicle beam to both the LH and RH hinge pillars.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the cross vehicle beam to hinge pillar retaining bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Install the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module to the cross vehicle beam retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the HVAC module center support bracket.
  12. Install the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module center support bracket retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  14. Install the IP wiring harness into position and secure the retaining clips.

  15. Object Number: 486680  Size: SH
  16. Install the BCM bracket into position.
  17. Install the BCM bracket retaining bolts.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the BCM bracket retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  19. Install the relay bracket into position.
  20. Install the relay bracket retaining bolts.
  21. Tighten
    Tighten the relay bracket retaining bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  22. Install the brake pedal bracket and reinforcement. Refer to Brake Pedal Bracket Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  23. Install the air distributor extension ducts. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC - Manual, or Air Distributor Duct Replacement in HVAC - Automatic.
  24. Install the passenger SIR inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
  25. Install the instrument panel (IP) trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
