Turn Signal Lamps Inoperative - Left or Right Side Turn Signal Lamp

  1. Check the suspected bulbs for damage or an open filament.
  2. Check the harness connectors to be sure the harness connector seals are not damaged or missing.

Are the bulbs and harness connectors OK?

Is the turn lamp that is inoperative a front turn lamp?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the turn signal switch to the inoperative side.
  3. Using a test lamp, backprobe between inoperative tail lamp harness connector terminal B to ground.

Is the test lamp flashing?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

    • LR: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1414 between S292 and the LR turn signal lamp.
    • RR: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1415 between S291 and the RR turn signal lamp.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Exterior Lights System Check

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the turn signal switch to the inoperative side.
  3. Using a test lamp, backprobe between inoperative tail lamp harness connector terminal G to ground.

Is the test lamp flashing?

--

Go to Step 18

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Turn the turn signal switch to inoperative side.
  3. • LH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the daytime running lamp control module harness connector C1 terminal E and ground.
    • RH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the daytime running lamp control module harness connector C1 terminal G and ground.

Does the test lamp flash?

Go to Step 8

    • LH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1414 between S292 and the DRL control module harness connector C1 terminal E.
    • RH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1415 between S291 and the DRL control module harness connector C1 terminal G.

Is the repair complete?

    • LH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the DRL control module harness connector C1 terminal B to ground.
    • RH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the DRL control module harness connector C1 terminal C to ground.

Is the test lamp flashing?

Go to Step 10

Replace the DRL control module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement for service procedure.

Is the repair complete?

    • LH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C2 terminal F11 to ground.
    • RH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C2 terminal F12 to ground.

Does the test lamp flash?

--

Go to Step 12

    • LH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 14 between the DRL control module harness connector C1 terminal B and the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C2 terminal F11.
    • RH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 15 between the DRL control module harness connector C2 terminal C and the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector terminal F12.

Is the repair complete?

    • LH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C3 terminal A11 to ground.
    • RH: Using a test lamp, backprobe between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C3 terminal A12 to ground.

Does the test lamp flash?

--

Replace the underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Underhood Fuse Block Replacement in Engine Electrical for service procedure.

  1. Using a J 35616-A kit connect jumper wires:
  2. • LH: Between connector C141 terminal D female to terminal D male and terminal A female and termianl A male on circuit 14.
    • RH: Between connector C142 terminal D female to terminal D male and terminal A female and termianl A male on circuit 15.
  3. Using a test lamp, backprobe between terminal D of your test leads and ground.

Does the test lamp flash?

Replace the headlamp. Refer to Park/Turn Signal/Side Marker Lamp Replacement for service procedure.

    • LH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 14 between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C3 terminal A11 and C141 terminal D.
    • RH: Repair poor connection or open in circuit 15 between the underhood accessory wiring junction block harness connector C3 terminal A12 and C142 terminal D.

Is the repair complete?
