Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt from the pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  2. Object Number: 294335  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering (PS) inlet hose from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  4. Remove the PS outlet pipe from the PS pump.

  5. Object Number: 282122  Size: SH
  6. Remove the PS pump mounting bolts from the pump.
  7. Remove the PS pump and reservoir.
  8. Remove the reservoir from the pump.
  9. Transfer the PS pulley as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the PS reservoir to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  2. Install the PS pump and reservoir to the engine block.

  3. Object Number: 282122  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the PS pump mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the PS pump mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Install the PS return hose to the PS pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  7. Install the PS outlet pipe to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Fill the PS system with fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  11. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks .
