Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the power steering gear heat shield in order to gain access. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  3. Place the drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any draining power steering fluid.

  4. Object Number: 417969  Size: SH
  5. Remove the return hose from the power steering gear cooler pipe.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  8. Object Number: 417981  Size: SH
  9. Remove the inlet hose from the power steering pump.
  10. Remove the inlet hose from the hose retainer.
  11. Remove the inlet hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the inlet hose.
  2. Install the inlet hose to the hose retainer.

  3. Object Number: 417981  Size: SH
  4. Install the inlet hose to the power steering pump.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Object Number: 417969  Size: SH
  7. Install the inlet hose to the power steering gear cooler pipe.
  8. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  11. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
