Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement Pontiac

1. Apply the park brake.
2. Position the shift lever to LOW.
3. Using a small flat-bladed tool, remove the ignition switch bezel.



4. Disengage the accessory trim plate from the I/P.
5. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
6. Remove the cigar lighter housing from the accessory trim plate. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Power Outlets.
7. Remove the mounting plate bracket bolts and the bracket from the I/P accessory switch
8. Remove the accessory trim plate.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




1. Install the mounting plate bracket and bolts to the I/P accessory switch.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

2. Install the cigar lighter housing to the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Power Outlets.
3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the I/P accessory trim plate by pressing the plate into place until fully seated.



5. Install the ignition switch bezel. Press the bezel into place until fully seated.
6. Position the shift lever to PARK.
7. Release the park brake.

Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement Oldsmobile

1. Remove the trim plate from the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .



2. Gently pull rearward on the bottom of the instrument panel (I/P) accessory trim plate to disengage the retainers.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses and the electrical connectors from the HVAC controls.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the 12-volt power supply.
5. Remove the cigar lighter housing from the I/P accessory trim plate, if required. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Power Outlets.



6. Remove the HVAC controls from the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.

1. Install the HVAC controls to the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.



2. Install the cigar lighter housing to the I/P accessory trim plate, if required. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Power Outlets.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the 12-volt power supply.
4. Connect the vacuum hoses and the electrical connectors to the HVAC controls.
5. Install the I/P accessory trim plate, pressing the plate into place until fully seated.
6. Install the trim plate to the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement .
