Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement Oldsmobile

Tools Required

J 42059 Cigar Lighter Socket Remover

1. Remove the 12-volt power supply fuse.



2. Remove the power supply housing by placing one side of the "T" portion of J 42059 into the tab window. Angle the other side into the opposite tab window. Pull the housing straight out.
3. Remove J 42059 from the supply housing.



4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the instrument panel (I/P) housing.



5. Remove the housing retainer using your index finger by pulling straight out.

1. Position the housing retainer with the key to the slot into the housing hole.



2. Install the housing retainer. Press into place until fully seated.



3. Connect the electrical connector to the I/P housing.



4. Position the housing to the retainer. Align the tabs on the housing to the slots in the retainer.



5. Install the housing into the I/P. Press into place until fully seated.
6. Install the power supply fuse.
7. Inspect the lighter for proper operation.

J 42059 Cigar Lighter Socket Remover

1. Remove the cigar lighter fuse.
2. Remove the cigar lighter element.



3. Remove the cigar lighter housing by placing one side of the "T" portion of J 42059 into the tab window. Angle the other side of the tool into the opposite tab window. Pull the housing straight out.
4. Remove the tool from the lighter housing.



5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cigar lighter housing.



6. Remove the cigar lighter retainer using your index finger. Pull the retainer out.

1. Position the cigar lighter retainer with the key to the slot into the cigar lighter hole.



2. Install the cigar lighter retainer by pressing the retainer into place until fully seated.



3. Connect the electrical connector to the cigar lighter housing.



4. Align the cigar lighter housing to the retainer and press the housing into place until fully seated.
5. Install the cigar lighter fuse.



6. Install the cigar lighter element.
7. Inspect the lighter for proper operation.
