Tools Required

1. Remove the brake drum and the wheel.
2. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement .

Important: Do NOT damage the housing.

3. Remove the seal. Use a seal removal tool behind the steel case of the seal.



4. Remove the bearing. Use J 2619-O1 ,J 2619-4 , and J 22813-A as shown. The tangs of the tool should engage the bearing outer race.

Tools Required

1. Install the brake drum and the wheel.



2. Install the bearing with J 23765 until the tool bottoms against the housing shoulder.
3. Lubricate the bearing with gear lubricant.



4. Install the seal. Use J 23771 until the seal is flush with the axle tube.
5. Lubricate the seal lips with axle lubricant.
6. Install the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement .
