Important:
• Use the correct axle on the axle's corresponding side. • Do not damage the oil seal. • The splined end of the axle shaft must engage the splines of the
rear axle side gear. • Lubricate the axle shaft wheel bearing surface and the oil seal
surface with axle lubricant.
Important: When reusing the differential pinion shaft locking screw, coat the threads with Loctite 242 before reinstalling. The differential pinion shaft locking screws are coated with an adhesive which helps keep the screw from loosening in the case.
Tighten
Tighten the lock bolt to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
