The sliding window panel controls water entry at the seal. A properly adjusted window panel ensures a snug fit between the seal and the roof.

    • Inspect the gap by inserting a piece of paper between the roof and the felt seal.
Maintain a minimal gap for the following reasons:
      • In order to reduce the amount of water that the sunroof drain system must eliminate
      • In order to reduce objectionable windnoise
    • Complete all of the window panel to roof adjustments by changing the height and centering of the window.
    • A drain trough encircles the sliding window panel and leads to the drain hoses located at each corner of the housing.
A drain channel spans the rear of the sunroof module and directs water into the trough.
    • Access the hoses by removing the pressure relief valves. Refer to Pressure Relief Valve in Body Rear End.
    • Route the front drain hoses down the windshield pillars and out the center of each pillar near the upper door hinge.
    • Route the 2 rear drain hoses through the door lock pillars and out of the rocker panel.
This drain system provides adequate drainage for the sunroof module.
    • Complete the following steps if the headlining is wet or other waterleaks occur:
        1. Verify that the drainage system is not plugged.

Clean the drainage system if the system is plugged:

1.1. Use a pint size container in order to pour water into the module housing drain trough.
1.2. Use compressed air in order to blow out any material that is plugging the drain system.
             1.3. Test the system again.
        2. Inspect the drainage system for disconnected drain hoses.
        3. Complete the following steps in order to obtain partial access to drain hoses and check for disconnects:
3.1. Remove the lace from the retainer around the sunroof opening.
             3.2. Withdraw the tucked headliner.
3.3. Remove the power sunroof switch. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement .
3.4. Lower the headliner as needed. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
