Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Place the transmission in the PARK or NEUTRAL position.
  2. Operate the folding top release switch.

Did the folding top lid release?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the folding top lid release parameter in the body control module data list.
  4. Operate the folding top lid switch.

Does the folding top lid release parameter change states?

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, command the TONN REL relay on.

Did the folding top lid release?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch and the ground circuit of the folding top lid switch.

Does the folding top lid release?

Go to Step 18

Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch and a good ground.

Does the folding top lid release?

Go to Step 7

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the folding top lid switch.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the signal circuit of the folding top lid switch for a short to ground, a high resistance, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the TONN REL relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuits of the TONN REL relay and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate at both circuits?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the TONN REL relay and the control circuit of the TONN REL relay.
  2. With a scan tool, command the TONN REL relay ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate only when the TONN REL relay is commanded ON?

Repair the open or high resistance in the battery positive voltage circuit of the TONN REL relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the control circuit of the TONN REL relay for a short to power, short to ground, an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Momentarily connect a fused jumper wire across the switch side of the TONN REL relay fuse block.

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid latch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper across the switch side of the TONN REL relay fuse block.
  3. Connect a test lamp between control circuit of the folding top lid latch and the ground circuit of the folding top lid latch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the folding top lid latch and a good ground.
