SECURITY Indicator Inoperative

Using a scan tool, try to establish communications with the BCM, LDCM, RDCM, and PCM systems.

Can the scan tool communicate with the BCM, IPC, LDCM, RDCM, and PCM systems?

Using a scan tool, select IPC Special Functions and command the SECURITY indicator ON and OFF.

Does the SECURITY indicator turn ON and OFF with each command?

Using the power door lock switches, operate the driver and passenger door locks.

Do the power door locks operate correctly?

  1. Close both the driver and passenger doors.
  2. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the door ajar message displayed?

Open the driver door.

Is the door ajar message displayed?

  1. Close the driver door.
  2. Open the passenger door.

Is the door ajar message displayed?

Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the SECURITY indicator ON or flashing?

Inspect the following circuits for an intermittent malfunction

    • Driver door ajar switch
    • Passenger door ajar switch.
    • Intermittent communications between the BCM, IPC, RDCM, LDCM, or PCM systems.
    • Hatch/trunk ajar switch.
    • Power door lock switches.
    • Door lock cylinder switches.
    • Hood ajar switch (export only).

Was a problem found and repaired?

Go to Step 12

System OK

Repair the no communication malfunction to the system that could not communicate with the scan tool. Refer to the appropriate Diagnostic System Check that applies to the system that did not communicate.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Using a scan tool, check any DTC that affect theft deterrent performance. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type .

Are any of these DTC stored?

Go to Applicable DTC Table

System OK

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Reconnect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Is the repair complete?
