Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  3. Remove the inflator restraint module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.

  4. Object Number: 490704  Size: SH
  5. Remove the horn contact from the steering column.
  6. Disconnect the horn contact wiring (2) from the 3 contacts (1) on the inflator module (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 490704  Size: SH
  1. Connect the horn contact wiring (2) to the 3 contacts (1) on the inflator module (3).
  2. Install the inflator module to the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SIR.
  3. Enable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.
