Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 404162 Size: SH
  1. Install the evaporator core to the evaporator case.
  2. Assemble the evaporator case sections.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the evaporator case screws.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the evaporator case screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  6. Install the evaporator case assembly to the vehicle.
  7. Install the bolts and nuts which retain the evaporator case to the bulkhead.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the evaporator case mounting bolts and nuts to 4.5 N·m (40 lb in).

  9. Connect electrical connector to the blower motor.
  10. Connect the EGR pipe to the exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe Replacement in Engine Controls.
  11. Install the heat shield to the evaporator case.
  12. Tighten
