Disassembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
    • J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin
  1. Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle .

  2. Object Number: 312396  Size: SH
  3. Remove the blue (1), black (2), and gray (3) connectors of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.

  4. Object Number: 312408  Size: SH
  5. Depress the tab on the cruise control switch assembly (2) and remove from the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1).

  6. Object Number: 312416  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (2).
  8. Remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1).

Assembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin

    Object Number: 312416  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1). Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  3. Slide the cruise control switch assembly (2) onto the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly (1).

  4. Object Number: 312396  Size: SH
  5. Install the blue (1), black (2), and gray (3) connectors of the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly.
  6. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle .
