Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 106373  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the switches (2).
  4. Remove brake pedal bracket mounted switches.

  5. Object Number: 287901  Size: SH
  6. Remove the pushrod retainer (2) and washer (1) from the pushrod pin.

  7. Object Number: 296128  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake pedal nuts from the cowl.
  9. Remove the brake pedal fasteners from the booster studs.
  10. Remove the pedal assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 296128  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the brake pedal assembly onto the booster studs then install the booster stud nuts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pedal to booster stud nuts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft)

  3. Install the brake pedal nuts onto the cowl studs.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the cowl stud fasteners to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  5. Apply lubricant, GM P/N 9985164 or equivalent, to pushrod pin.

  6. Object Number: 287901  Size: SH
  7. Install pushrod onto pushrod pin. Secure with spacer (1) and retainer (2).

  8. Object Number: 106373  Size: SH
  9. Install Brake pedal mounted switches.
  10. Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the switches (2).
  11. Install the I/P assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
