Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 104644 Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Disconnect the IAT sensor connector (1) from the IAT sensor.
  4. Remove the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (2) and intake cleaner intake duct as an assembly. Refer to Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement and Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .

  5. Disconnect the transaxle vent hose (4) from the clip (3).

    6. Object Number: 19023 Size: SH
  6. Remove the throttle body mount bolts from the throttle body (1).
  7. Remove the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement
  8. Remove the throttle body spacer bolts from the throttle body spacer (3).

    9. Object Number: 53639 Size: SH
  9. Remove the EGR pipe at throttle body spacer.

    10. Object Number: 19023 Size: SH
  10. Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe at the throttle body spacer.
  11. Remove the throttle body spacer (3) and gasket (2) from the intake manifold (4).
  12. Clean the throttle body gasket surfaces.
  13. Clean the throttle body spacer gasket surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 19023 Size: SH
  1. Install the throttle body spacer (3).

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the throttle body spacer attaching bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  2. Install the EGR pipe to the throttle body spacer.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR pipe bolt to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  3. Install the crankcase ventilation pipe at the throttle body spacer.

    4. Object Number: 19023 Size: SH
  4. Install the new gasket (2) and throttle body (1). Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement .

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts to 12 N·m  (106 lb in).

  5. Install the transaxle vent hose (4) to clip (3).

    6. Object Number: 104644 Size: SH
  6. Install the MAF sensor and air cleaner intake duct as an assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement and Mass Airflow Sensor Replacement .
  7. Install the IAT sensor connector (1) from the IAT sensor.
  8. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  9. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
  10. Check and add coolant as necessary. Long life coolant must meet GM Specification 6277-M.
