Headlining Trim Panel Replacement w/Sunroof

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the front bucket seats. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
  3. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  4. Remove the windshield pillar trim. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Remove the sail panel. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  7. .

  8. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  9. Remove the auxiliary sunshade. Refer to Visor Replacement .
  10. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  11. Remove the rearview mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement in Stationary Windows.
  12. Pull the door opening moldings down to clear headliner.
  13. Remove the rear quarter courtesy lamp bezels. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Courtesy Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  14. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  16. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  17. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  18. Open the wire harness retainers and remove the harness.

  19. Object Number: 288098  Size: SH

    Important: Installation of a new cardboard roof insulator is necessary to ensure the acoustical integrity of the roof system. Use GM P/N 12378192 Adhesive available through General Motors Service Parts Operations.

  20. Pull the headliner down in order to release the headliner from the cardboard roof dampener.
  21. Important: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  22. Remove the headliner through the front passenger door opening.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Use care when removing or installing the headliner. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  1. Load the headliner into the vehicle through the front passenger door opening.
  2. With a helper, raise the headliner into position.
  3. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the auxiliary sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  6. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  7. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  9. Connect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  10. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  11. Route and secure the wiring harness in the wiring harness retainers.
  12. Install the sail panel. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  13. Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weather-strip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel and pillar garnish moldings.

  14. Install the door opening weather-strips in the door openings. Refer to Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement in Doors.
  15. Install the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  16. Install the rear quarter courtesy lamp bezels. Refer to Roof Rail Rear Courtesy Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  17. Install the rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
  18. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  19. Install the front bucket seats. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
  20. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Cardboard Roof Insulator

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 157636  Size: SH

    Important: Use care when removing the cardboard roof insulator. Excessive pressure can cause dents in the roof panel.

  3. Starting in one corner of the cardboard, pulling downward, cut the adhesive beads (1) using a sharp putty knife or equivalent.
  4. Important: It is not necessary to remove all of the old adhesive from the roof panel.

  5. Cut off all of the adhesive beads.
  6. Important: Installation of a new cardboard roof insulator is necessary to ensure the acoustical integrity of the roof system. Use GM P/N 12378192 Adhesive available through General Motors Service Parts Operations.

  7. Remove the cardboard roof insulator.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Installation of a new cardboard roof insulator is necessary to ensure the acoustical integrity of the roof system. Use Betamate Urethane Adhesive available through General Motors Service Parts Operations.

  1. Apply 6 mm (1/4 in) to 9 mm (3/8 in) (2) beads of adhesive 15 mm (5/8 in) wide (1).

  2. Object Number: 107686  Size: SH
  3. Apply the adhesive in the locations marked on the cardboard insulator (1).
  4. Important: Cardboard roof insulator must be installed within five minutes of adhesive application.

  5. Place the cardboard roof insulator to the roof panel.
  6. Important: Gluing the headliner to the cardboard roof insulator during installation is not required.

  7. Install the headliner. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement .
