Did you perform the Radio/Audio System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the radio ON.
  3. Adjust the FADE and BALANCE to the inoperative speaker.
  4. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the A/C voltage from the inoperative speaker connector terminal A to B (speaker connected).

Is A/C voltage measured?

Replace the speaker.

Inspect the speaker circuits for an open or a short to ground.

Was an open or short found?

Repair the open or the short to ground in the speaker circuit.

Replace the radio amplifier. Refer to Radio Speaker Amplifier Replacement .

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the radio amplifier connector C3.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Measure the voltage from the radio amplifier C3 terminal B to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 140 (ORN/BLK).

Measure the voltage from the radio amplifier C3 terminal B to A.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open in CKT 1051 (BLK).
