Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the master cylinder fluid
level sensor.
- Remove the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement
.
- Remove the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement
.
Important: Do not clamp on the master cylinder body.
- Clamp the flange on the master cylinder body in a vise
- Drive out the pins using
a 1/8 inch punch.
Important: Do not damage the reservoir or the cylinder body when driving out the
pins.
- Remove the reservoir by pulling straight up and away from the cylinder
body.
- Remove the o-rings from the grooves in the reservoir.
- Inspect the reservoir for cracks or deformation. Replace if damage
is found.
- Clean the reservoir with clean denatured alcohol.
- Dry the reservoir with non-lubricated compressed air.
Installation Procedure
Important: Lubricate the new o-rings and reservoir bayonets with clean brake fluid.
- Install the o-rings into the grooves in the reservoir.
- The o-rings must be properly seated.
- Install the brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinder body
by pressing straight down by hand until the pin holes are aligned.
- Drive in the pins to retain
the reservoir using care not to damage the reservoir or the cylinder body.
- Install the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement

- Install the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement
.
- Connect the electrical connector to the master cylinder fluid
level sensor.
