Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover Replacement Eldorado
Removal Procedure
- Open the doors.
- Remove the lower shoulder belt guide fastener.
- Carefully slide the shoulder belt through the shoulder belt guide
loop.
- Remove the front seat, with the aid from an assistant. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Disconnect the seat back, heated seat electrical connectors.
- Tilt the seat back forward.
- Open the seat back cover zipper.
- Remove the seat back recliner lever knob.
- Cut the tie strap securing the electrical harness.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from under the seat cushion.
- Pull the heated seat back wiring up through the cushion cover.
- Carefully release the
seat back cover from the pad. Invert the pad as you work upward.
- Raise the headrest to the maximum travel.
- Insert a small tool or
a paper clip (1) into the holes (2) at the rear side of the
head restraint retainer post (3).
- With the seat back cover inverted up to the head restraint, release
the retainer by pushing the tool downward.
- Pull the head restraint upward.
- Remove the head restraint.
- Carefully release the
remainder of the seat back cover (3) from the pad (2).
- Fold the seat back pad downward, remove the hog ring, in order
to complete the pad removal.
- Remove the cover from the pad.
Installation Procedure
- Position the seat back
cover (3) on the seat back pad (2).
- Position the seat back pad and cover to the seat back frame.
- Carefully pull the cover down over the pad.
- Ensure the hook and loop attachment on the cover is aligned with
the hook and loop attachment on the pad.
- Install the head restraint
posts into the retainers (3).
- Carefully guide the heated seat back wiring through the seat cushion
frame.
- Install the manual recliner lever knob.
- Close the seat back cover zipper.
- Tilt the seat fully upright.
- Install the front seat, with the aid from an assistant. Refer
to
Seat Replacement
.
- Ensure the head restraint is properly secured into the retainers.
- Carefully guide
the shoulder belt through the shoulder belt guide loop.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the shoulder belt guide loop
fastener.
Tighten
Tighten the shoulder belt guide loop fastener to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Reposition the seat.
- Close the doors.
Driver or Passenger Seat Back Cushion Cover Replacement Deville
Removal Procedure
- Open the doors.
- Remove the front seat, with the aid from an assistant. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the seat back trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Trim Replacement
.
- Disengage the
J channel (3) from the rear of the seat back.
- Remove the 2 lower hog rings (4) securing the seat back
cover to the seat frame.
- Disconnect the seat back, heated seat electrical connectors (1).
- Carefully pull the seat cover between the seat cushion and seat
back.
- Invert the seat back cover up to the head restraint.
- Remove the head restraint.
- Separate the cover from the pad.
- Finish removing the seat back cover.
Installation Procedure
- Place the seat
back cover to the seat back pad.
- Place the cover over the top of the pad.
- Locate the head restraint holes for the head restraint.
- Position the head restraint to the head restraint guides.
- Firmly press head restraint into guides.
- Working the cover down over the pad, ensure the hook and loop
is attached to the seat back cover.
- Work the cover downward to the seat cushion.
- Connect the electrical connectors (1).
- Install a new tie strap.
- Pull the seat cover (3) between the seat cushion and seat
back.
- Secure the lower seat back cover with new hog rings (4).
- Engage the J channel (1)
to the seat back.
- Install the seat back trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Trim Replacement
.
- With the aid of an assistant, install the seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Reposition the seat.
- Close the doors.
