Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement DeVille

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 401819  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear seat cushion and the seat back. Refer to the following procedures:
  2. •  Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
    •  Rear Seat Back Replacement
  3. Disengage the fastener at the lower front edge of the rear quarter trim panel (2).
  4. Disengage the fastener at the lower rear edge of the rear quarter trim panel.
  5. Disengage the 2 fasteners at the top edge of the trim panel.
  6. Pull out the belt escutcheon in order to disengage the belt escutcheon from the trim panel.
  7. Remove the lower shoulder belt mounting bolt.
  8. Remove the belt through the trim panel (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Insert the shoulder belt through the trim panel (2).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the lower shoulder belt mounting bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  5. Snap the belt escutcheon into the trim panel opening.
  6. Align the fasteners of the trim panel (2) to the slots in the body. Push the panel outward in order to install the trim panel.
  7. Install the rear seat back and the seat cushion. Refer to the following procedures:

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion and the seat back. Refer to the following procedures:
  2. •  Rear Seat Cushion Replacement
    •  Rear Seat Back Replacement
  3. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  4. Complete the following steps in order to remove the pull strap.
  5.         Important: Do not use a tool at the rounded end of the cover. This action may cause the retaining tabs to break.

    3.1. Use a flat bladed tool in the center of the cover in order to release the cover.
    3.2. Slide the covers along the strap.
  6. Remove the fasteners that retain the pull strap.
  7. Remove the seat belt lower anchor bolt  (2) from the floor.
  8. Grasp the trim panel (3) and pull the panel inboard.
  9. Remove the trim panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the trim panel fasteners (1) to the holes in the body.
  2. Push outboard on the trim panel.
  3. Ensure that the seat belt (2) is pulled through the opening in the trim panel.
  4. Install the anchor bolt that secures the seat belt to the floor.
  5. Install the pull strap and retaining fasteners.
  6. Install the pull strap fastener covers.
  7. Install the carpet retainer. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement .
  8. Install the rear seat back and the seat cushion. Refer to the following procedures:
