Go to Brake Warning System Check

1. Verify that the parking brake is not engaged.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the PARK indicator illuminated?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator Always On

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch.
2. Measure the resistance between the brake fluid level switch connector terminal B and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified range?

5 ohms

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 6

1. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster (IPC) connectors.
2. Measure the resistance between the IPC connector C2 terminal A11 and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified range?

5 ohms

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Repair a short to ground in CKT 849 (PNK). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Brake Warning System Check

Replace the brake fluid level switch. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Brake Warning System Check

--

1. Perform the IPC diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
2. If no concerns are found, replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
