Did you perform the Brake Warning System Check?

  1. Verify that the parking brake is not engaged.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the PARK indicator illuminated?

--

  1. Disconnect the parking brake switch.
  2. Measure the resistance between the parking brake switch connector terminal A and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Less than 5 ohms

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster (IPC) connectors.
  2. Measure the resistance between the IPC connector C2 terminal A1 and ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified range?

5 ohms

Repair a short to ground in CKT 1134 (LT BLU). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the parking brake for proper adjustment. If the adjustment is OK, replace the parking brake switch.

  1. Perform the IPC diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  2. If no concerns are found, replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
