Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine assembly, refer to Engine Replacement .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Remove the drive belt idler pulley.
  4. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
  5. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
  6. Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement .
  7. Remove the left side cam cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement.
  8. Remove the right side cam cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement.
  9. Align all timing marks first.
  10. Remove three timing chain tensioners.
  11. Remove the camshaft sprocket bolt from all four camshafts. Remove the sprockets.
  12. Remove the secondary drive chains from around the intermediate shaft sprocket.
  13. Remove the retaining bolt for the intermediate shaft sprocket.

  14. Object Number: 62341  Size: SH
  15. Slide the gears and the primary drive chain off of the crankshaft and the intermediate shaft.
  16. The intermediate shaft should not be removed unless wear is evident.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 62341  Size: SH
  1. Retime the camshafts. Refer to Setting Camshaft Timing .
  2. Install the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement .
  3. Install the left side cam cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement.
  4. Install the right side cam cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement.
  5. Install the drive belt idler pulley.
  6. Install the drive belt tensioner.
  7. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  8. Install the engine assembly. Refer to Engine Replacement .
