Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraints.
  2. Remove the power window switch assembly. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
  3. Remove the door trim plate. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 443164  Size: SH
  5. Gently pull the trim panel inboard in order to disengage the trim fastener retaining the outside rearview mirror trim cover.
  6. Remove the fasteners.
  7. Remove the door trim panel (5) by lifting up and out in order to disengage the hooks from the door.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Perform the following steps in order to install the door trim panel (1):
  3. 2.1. Align the hooks with the door.
    2.2. Push inward and downward on the trim panel.

    Refer to the detail insert in the illustration.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fasteners (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (2) to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  6. Install the outside rearview mirror trim cover with the trim fastener.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraints.
  8. Install the door trim plate. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .
  9. Install the power window switch assembly. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
