1. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe between the reverse relay terminal D3 (ORN) and ground.
2. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe between the reverse relay terminal D1 (ORN) and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 10

1. Remove the reverse relay from the rear compartment relay center 5.
2. Cover the ambient light sensor (windshield side) using a dark cloth.
3. Shine an incandescent light on the headlamp sensor (mirror side). Ensure that the mirror darkens.
4. Connect a fused jumper between the reverse relay terminal D3 and terminal C1.

Does the mirror return to a clear state?

Go to Step 8

1. Use the J 39200 DMM in order to backprobe between the reverse relay terminal D1 and terminal C3.
2. Place the gear selector lever in the REVERSE position.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the reverse relay.

Is the repair complete?

Test CKT 646 (DK GRN) for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 646 OK?

Replace the body control module (PZM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Test CKT 24 (LT GRN) for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 24 OK?

Replace the inside rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open or the short to ground in CKT 1940 (ORN). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?
