Removal Procedure
- Relieve fuel system pressure.
Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
Remove the air intake duct (1) clamp (2) from the air cleaner assembly
(3).
- Remove the intake air duct (1) clamp (5) from the MAF sensor (4).
- Disconnect the transaxle
vent hose (2) from the clip attached to the accelerator controls cable bracket
(1).
- Remove the throttle body
mount bolts from the throttle body (1).
- Remove the throttle body. Refer to
Throttle Body Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the throttle body spacer bolts from the spacer.
- Remove the EGR pipe at
throttle body spacer.
- Remove the crankcase ventilation
pipe at the throttle body spacer.
- Remove the throttle body spacer (3) and gasket (2) from the intake
manifold (4).
Important: Use care when cleaning the old gasket from the aluminum surfaces.
- Clean the throttle body gasket surfaces.
- Clean the throttle body spacer gasket surfaces.
Installation Procedure
- Install the throttle body
spacer gasket and throttle body spacer (3) to the intake manifold (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the throttle
body spacer bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body spacer attaching bolts to 12 N·m
(106 lb in).
- Install the EGR pipe to
the throttle body spacer.
Tighten
Tighten the EGR pipe bolt to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).
- Install the crankcase ventilation pipe at the throttle body spacer.
- Install the new gasket
(2) and throttle body (1). Refer to
Throttle Body Assembly Replacement
.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body attaching bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the transaxle
vent hose (2) to the clip attached to the accelerator controls cable bracket
(1).
- Install the intake air
duct (1) clamp (5) to the MAF sensor (4).
- Install the air intake duct (1) clamp (2) to the air cleaner assembly
(3).
Tighten
Tighten the clamps (2), (5), to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the negative battery cable.
