Removal Procedure

Important: Always replace the cables and the rear guide in pairs.

  1. Remove the sunroof actuator. Refer to Sunroof Actuator Replacement .
  2. Remove the water gutter. Refer to Water Gutter Replacement .
  3. Remove the screw from the sunroof actuator cable stop.
  4. Remove the sunroof actuator cable stop from the sunroof actuator.

  5. Object Number: 168382  Size: SH
  6. Remove the slide and/or guide from the sunroof actuator.

  7. Object Number: 168383  Size: SH
  8. Remove the C-clip and pin from the guide.
  9. Disconnect the cable and the rear guide from the slide.
  10. Remove the cable and rear guide from the slide.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 168383  Size: SH
  1. Sparingly lubricate cables using Silicon Grease GM P/N 12345579 or equivalent.
  2. Install the cable and the rear guide to the slide.
  3. Install the pin and C-clip to the slide.

  4. Object Number: 168382  Size: SH
  5. Install the slide and/or guide to the sunroof actuator.

  6. Object Number: 168396  Size: SH
  7. Install the sunroof actuator stop to the sunroof actuator.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the sunroof actuator cable stop screw to the cable stop.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the sunroof actuator cable stop screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the water gutter. Refer to Water Gutter Replacement .
  12. Install the sunroof actuator. Refer to Sunroof Actuator Replacement .
  13. Adjust both cables with the slide and/or the guide. Refer to Slider Adjustment .
