Schematic Reference: Heated Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: One or both of the front heated seats are inoperative.

Did you review the system operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the driver seat heater switch to positions 1-5.
  3. Turn the passenger seat heater switch to positions 1-5.

Do both front heated seats operate normally?

--

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the heated seat switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the heated seat switch ignition voltage supply circuit terminal to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition on.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

--

  1. Using a DMM test the resistance through the heated seat switch from the ignition voltage supply terminal to the on signal terminal.
  2. Turn the switch through all positions.

Is the resistance within the specified values in positions 1 through 5?

0.0-0.5 ohms

  1. Using a DMM test the resistance through the heated seat switch from the ignition voltage supply terminal to the temperature selector signal terminal.
  2. Turn the switch through all the positions.

Is the resistance within the specified values in positions 1 through 5?

0.5K-9.5K ohms

  1. Disconnect the heated seat connector.
  2. Test and repair for an open or high resistance in the following circuits from the heated seat switch connector to the heated seat connector:
  3. • On switch signal circuit
    • Temperature switch signal circuit

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the heated seat connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the heated seat connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the connector between the seat cushion heater and the seat back heater.
  2. Test the resistance through the seat back heater element.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.5-2 ohms

Repair the open or high resistance in the ignition voltage supply circuit to the seat heater switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the battery voltage supply circuit to the heated seat connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the heated seat connector ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the heated seat switch. Refer to Front Seat Heater Switch Replacement .
