Schematic Reference: Power Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: The driver seat (without memory), or passenger seat front and rear vertical adjuster motors will not tilt the seat forward.

Did you review the Power Seats System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Disconnect one of the inoperative seat adjuster motor connectors.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the adjuster motor supply circuit terminals.
  3. Press the seat adjuster switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the switch is pressed in both directions?

  1. Disconnect the antisubmarine switch connectors.
  2. Bypass the antisubmarine switch by connecting a fused jumper wire from the antisubmarine switch voltage supply circuit to the seat front down/rear up switch voltage supply circuit.
  3. With the test lamp connected across the adjuster motor supply circuit terminals press the seat adjuster switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the switch is pressed in both directions?

Inspect and repair the antisubmarine switch for any mechanical conditions which may prevent proper operation or any damage to the switch circuits and connector terminals. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect and repair any damage to the adjuster motor pigtail harness and connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect and repair any damage to the adjuster switch pigtail harness and connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the antisubmarine switch. Refer to Anti-Submarining Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Replace the seat adjuster motor. Refer to Power Seat Adjuster Mechanism Replacement or Recliner Motor Replacement - Front Power .

Is the replacement complete?

Replace the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
