Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• | Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• | Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
• | If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
- Disable the SIR system,
if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the front door inside handle rod. Refer to
Front Side Door Locking Rod Replacement
.
- Remove all rods that attach to the lock.
- Remove the front door actuator electrical connectors.
- Remove the front door
lock screws.
- Remove the front door lock from the door.
- Remove the front door
lock actuator screws.
- Remove the front door lock actuator from the door lock.
Installation Procedure
- Install the front door
lock actuator to the door lock.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front
door lock actuator screws.
Tighten
Tighten the front door lock actuator screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the front door
lock to the door.
- Install the front door lock screws.
Tighten
Tighten the front door lock screws to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the front door actuator electrical connectors.
- Install all rods that attach to the lock.
- Install the front door inside handle rod. Refer to

- Install the front door water deflector. Refer to

- Install front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Enable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system.
