Removal Procedure
Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door.
When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move
very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• | Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• | Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
• | If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
- Disable the SIR system,
if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to
Disabling the SIR System
in SIR.
- Roll the window half way down.
- Tape the window into place.
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Remove the Inflatable restraint side impact sensor mounting plate
if equipped. Refer to
SIR Sensor Mounting Plate Replacement - Front Door
.
- Remove the power window regulator motor electrical connector.
- Remove the guide rail adjuster. Refer to
Window Guide Rail Replacement - Front Door
.
- Remove the rivets by drilling
out.
- Remove the front door window regulator and motor from the door.
- Remove the front door
window regulator motor screws.
- Remove the window regulator from the motor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the window regulator
to the motor.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the front
door window regulator motor screws.
Tighten
Tighten the front door window regulator motor screws to
5 N·m (45 lb in).
- Install the front door window regulator and motor from the door.
- Install new rivets to
regulator.
- Install the guide rail adjuster. Refer to

- Install the power window regulator motor electrical connector.
- Install the Inflatable restraint side impact sensor mounting plate
if equipped. Refer to
SIR Sensor Mounting Plate Replacement - Front Door

- Install the front door water deflector. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Install front door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove tape from the window.
- Enable SIR system, if equipped with SIR side impact system. Refer
to
Enabling the SIR System
in SIR.
