Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR, if equipped with the inflatable restraint system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Pull up on the lock knob in order to expose the orange tab.
- Pry out on the orange tab with a screwdriver in order to release the knob. Discard the orange tab.
- Remove the door handle trim panel.
- Remove the power accessory switch panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
- Remove the courtesy lamp. Refer to Door Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the trim panel screws.
- Lift the trim panel upwards in order to release from the clips.
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury • Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Installation Procedure
- Install the trim panel on the clips.
- Install the trim panel screws.
- Install the courtesy lamp. Refer to Door Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Install the power accessory switch panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
- Install the door handle trim panel.
- Install the lock knob
- Insert the new orange tab into the slot.
- Push the knob into position.
- Enable the SIR, if equipped with the inflatable restraint system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
