Open the rear compartment.

Does the trunk ajar indicator illuminate?

1. Disconnect the rear compartment courtesy lamp.
2. Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp and a good ground.

Does the trunk ajar indicator illuminate?

Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp and the ground circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp?

1. Connect the rear compartment courtesy lamp.
2. Disconnect the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch.
3. Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch and a good ground.

Test the signal circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
