Schematic Reference: Brake Warning System Schematics

Did you review the system operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step  2

Go to Symptoms - Hydraulic Brakes

1. Disconnect the park brake indicator switch connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  3

Go to Step  4

Disconnect the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor connector.

Does the brake indicator lamp illuminate?

Go to Step  5

Go to Step 6

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  7

1. Locate a short to ground in the brake light signal circuit.
2. Repair any short to ground in the brake light signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
3. If these circuits are OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  7

Replace the brake fluid minimum capacity sensor. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
