Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step  2

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the low speed position.
3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the off position.

Do the wiper arms return to the park position and stop?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step  3

1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor relay K8.
2. Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage to the wiper motor position switch signal circuit.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the low speed position.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the wiper arms are in the park position only?

Go to Step  4

Go to Step  5

Replace the windshield wiper motor relay K8.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  6

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
