Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 158381  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear air duct front support nuts (1).
  4. Remove the console rear support nuts (2).
  5. Remove the supports (4).
  6. Slide the air duct rearward to remove.
  7. Disconnect the automatic transmission control electrical connector.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Remove the shift control linkage from the shift lever.
  10. Lower the vehicle.

  12. Drill out the 5 rivets (2) attaching the control from the body.
  13. Remove the automatic transmission control (1) from body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 158387  Size: SH
  1. Install the automatic transmission control (1) to body.
  2. Install the 5 rivets (2) attaching control to body.
  3. Raise the vehicle.
  4. Install the shift control linkage to the shift lever.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the automatic transmission control electrical connector.

  8. Install the rear air duct by sliding forward.
  9. Install the console rear support (4).
  10. Install the console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  11. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the rear air duct front support nuts (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the rear air duct front support nuts (1) to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  14. Adjust the shift linkage. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment .
