Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative
battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the intake plenum. Refer to
Intake Plenum Replacement
.
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Remove the intake manifold flange bolts (1).
Important: After the intake manifold flange is removed, mask off the ports to prevent
foreign objects from entering the engine.
- Remove the intake manifold flange (2).
- Clean the cylinder head
sealing surfaces with a non-abrasive tool or solvent.
Installation Procedure
- Remove the masking from
the cylinder head intake ports.
- Ensure the seals on the
intake manifold flange are properly seated and installed.
- Install the intake manifold flange (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the intake
manifold flange bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the intake manifold flange bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the intake manifold. Refer to
Intake Manifold Replacement
.
- Install the intake plenum. Refer to
