Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the 4 splash shield bolts.
  3. Remove the splash shield.
  4. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  5. Remove the lower oil pan bolts.

  7. Remove the lower oil pan from the upper oil pan.

  8. Object Number: 159474  Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil level sensor bolts (if applicable).
  10. Remove the oil level sensor from the oil pan (if applicable).
  11. Clean the oil pan.
  12. Clean the oil pan gasket surfaces.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the oil pan gasket.

  2. Object Number: 159474  Size: SH
  3. Install the oil level sensor to the lower oil pan (if applicable).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil level sensor bolts (if applicable).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil level sensor bolts until fully seated and not stripped.

  7. Install the lower oil pan to the upper oil pan.
  8. Install the lower oil pan bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  10. Install the engine splash shield.
  11. Install the 4 engine splash shield bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the splash shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Fill the crankcase with engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
