Visually inspect the battery for physical damage.

Visually inspect the battery 's built-in hydrometer.

Battery terminals are clean and tight.

    • Battery terminal connections are not clean and tight.
    • Tighten the batter cable terminal nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
    • Refer to Battery Cable .

Visually inspect the battery 's built-in hydrometer.

Battery hydrometer displays a green dot.

Battery does not display a green dot. Refer to Battery Hydrometer Displays Yellow Dot .

Check the battery performance. Refer to Battery Not Operating Properly .

Battery passes the load test.

Battery does not pass the load test. Refer to Battery Replacement .

Insert the ignition key into the ignition and crank the engine.

The starter solenoid clicks and the engine cranks.

    • The starter solenoid clicks and the engine does not crank or cranks slowly. Refer to Starter Solenoid Clicks, Engine Does Not Crank .
    • The starter solenoid does not click and the engine does not crank. Refer to Starter Solenoid Does Not Click .
