Was the Charging System Check performed?

Use the DMM to measure the voltage between the generator connector C1 and a known good ground.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuits A100 and/or A400.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuits A100 and/or A400.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Reconnect the generator connector.
  2. Turn OFF all the accessories.
  3. Run the engine at fast idle.
  4. Use the DMM to measure the voltage between the positive and the negative terminals of the battery.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value?

12.5-14.5V

Repair or replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Is the repair or replacement complete?

  1. Load test the generator. Refer to Generator Assembly Bench Check in Engine Electrical.
  2. Replace the battery if the generator passed the load test. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Connect all of the connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the generator operates properly.

Does the generator operate properly?
